Am I Money? (Think ‘Hot-or-Not’ for Your Job Search)

May 19, 2009 by sparktalk

NOTE: Due to the incredible response to this program, we are not taking any more candidates at this time. We are working on a way to respond to all those who submitted their credentials and then hope to open the program up again in the future. If you would like to be on the list, feel free to follow the instructions below, but it could be some time before we are able to respond to your request.

We get a lot of requests (on average 3+/day) for our professionals to look at someone’s cover letter, resume, online profile, etc. So, it occurred to me that it was time we offer a new, FREE service for those who want to know just how they rate in the working world.

Welcome to “Am I Money”the blog post that gets your professional credibility (a.k.a. your personal brand) rated by top career experts (and a bunch of other folks too!).

All you need to do is e-mail us at amimoney@careerealism.com. In it, you need to include any/all of the following:

  • Public LinkedIn, Facebook & Twitter profiles
  • The photo you use on all your online profiles
  • Recent cover letter (less any company info)
  • Resume (less your private address/contact info)

In return, I will write a detailed evaluation and rate your ‘money status.’ I’ll also post it and invite our T.A.P. Experts (and any other career experts online who want to post a rating and comments) to share whether or not they think you are ‘money’ to the working world.

On a scale of 1-5, you’ll get a score as follows:

5 – You are Money!

4 – You’re Close to Being Money

3 – You’ve Got Money Potential

2 – You Should Invest in Yourself

1 – You’re Broke!

So, if you are ready to get an honest assessment of your professional chops, send us an e-mail. And, if you are a student or recent grad who is thinking, “Hmm. I bet I need help in this area.” Then, check out our free ‘Am I Money’ Quiz which well tell you confidentially whether or not you’re MONEY.

  • Resumes are on their way out. As a career consultant, I can tell you that employers need much more. Expanding your profile and responsibly providing samples of your work and branding your career, not just you, is the edge for today's market. Check out SEEKERS mini Magazines as a career branding tool.It about what you do!
  • A resume by any other name is still a resume--a summary of what you have to offer an employer. Offering value isn't likely to go out of fashion anytime soon.

Why is it that every time someone proclaims the death of resumes, they follow up with an offer to sell a resume in a different format--some kind of card, booklet, etc.? As Bowie sang, "same old thing in brand-new drag"...
  • Great post, confidence is a must.

    Great question Sheema.

The feedback will be public and posted as comments. However, we will be monitoring the comments and removing any that are inappropriate. That being said, I know the experts that choose to comment and provide a rating will be careful in their feedback because it's their reputation on the line as a credible advice source.

So, I think we will see feedback that is honest and helpful!
  • This is a fantastic idea! But will the feedback be public or private?
