October 2009 marks a year since we officially launched CAREEREALISM.com. In those early weeks and months, Greg and I were doing ‘high-fives’ if we got a 100 hits per day.  Fast forward 12 months…

This year has been a wild ride!

The economy tanked and gave a whole new meaning to our site’s tagline, “Because EVERY Job is Temporary.” We really felt the pressure to deliver as much value as we could and have worked non-stop in an effort to spread the word about the site’s mission: To educate people on the ‘new rules’ of job search and career development by providing cutting-edge advice and resources on a daily basis.

It’s hard to describe how much we love our work…

Greg and I discuss at least once each week how amazing it is to serve our readership. You truly are the most interesting and helpful group of people – and we are so grateful for each one of you. We have made hundreds of online colleagues and friends, have learned a ton about social media, and still get a complete thrill whenever someone mentions they like the site. It fuels us to make it better and better. We honestly can’t thank you all enough – it’s your contribution and support of CAREEREALISM.com that has made it the resource it is!

So, to show our appreciation, we’re throwing a contest where every person who enters WINS!

We wanted to celebrate our first birthday with a fun contest that would not only introduce you to a useful online resume tool by VisualCV.com, but also give you the chance to win an amazing prize from StudentCity.com, the #1 provider of spring break trips in the US.

The CAREEREALISM Surreal Resume Contest has you applying for the ultimate position – Spring Break Learning Director, who earns $250K/year! (Alas, if only it were a real job!) The winner gets a FREE Spring Break Trip for 2010. And even if you don’t win, you still get a prize. That’s because every person who takes the time to submit an entry to the contest gets a FREE year’s subscription to CAREEREALISM University (a $29 value). So, we hope you’ll take the time to learn more about the contest HERE.

Thanks again for being a part of our community…and may the best candidate win!
