Professional Grooming Tips For Men
First impressions make an impact and the first thing most people notice is your face. Proper skin and hair care is just as important for men as for women. A lack of grooming not only detracts from your appearance, but it also hinders your chance of making a good impression. In today’s competitive business world, you will want to look your best in professional and social settings.
An important aspect of grooming is to use quality products for men’s shaving. This means using sharp razors and lubricating shaving cream, so that the razor glides effortlessly over the face. The proper use of products will prevent nicks and get a clean shave.
Keeping your face well conditioned is also important. Moisturizer is not just for women. Men suffer just as much from dry skin, combination skin, or oily skin. If you have oily skin you may shy away from moisturizer, fearing it will make the problem worse. However, there are products for different skin types. It’s important to check labels before purchasing skin care products. Moisturizers that are created for oily or combination skin should not clog pores or make your skin feel greasy. When possible, buy small bottles of different products to test on your skin.
Do not neglect your eyebrows or nose hair. Some men give little attention to the brows or nose hair, but this is a mistake. Although you will not be worrying over your eyebrows in the same way women do, if you have bushy eyebrows or brows that meet in the middle, you should keep them well trimmed.
The subject of nose hair may elicit laughs, but you probably would not continue laughing if you knew how most women feel about it. Your male friends and colleagues may not even notice the hair, but women do and most find it unpleasant. Check your nostrils as part of your daily grooming routine, and use tweezers or special nose clippers to remove any visible hair.
Hair care should never be undervalued. Use shampoo, conditioner, and other products suitable for your hair type. If your hair tends to be on the dry side, avoid products containing alcohol.
Keep your hair trimmed to keep it looking its best and to avoid split ends – this usually means visiting the barber or stylist every four to six, depending on your hairstyle and your rate of hair growth.

These are great tips for how to appear professional to get the job. Good grooming is really important, whether your interview is in person or through online video. Employers are going to judge you based off first impressions, and if that impression look unkempt they might not listen to the actual content of your words.

Jennifer,
Seriously? Have you EVER tried plucking a NOSE HAIR? It’s PAINFUL as heck! Women may be used to plucking, pulling, waxing, etc. but despite all that, and the fact that men are generally wusses when it comes to pain (especially in sensitive areas), plucking a nose hair is the last thing nearly any man would consider. Why, a former district sales manager told me a story about how he used a “save the day” technique of asking for a glass of water, and when the prospect left the room, he would manually pluck a nose hair out, which cased his tear ducts to flow slightly. When the prospect returned to the room, of course, he looked miserable, and talked about losing his job if he didn’t make this sale, etc. Yes, a despicable and LAME trick, but it worked sometimes, and that is because the tears were real.
Maybe try advising the man used his safety razor, but plucking a nose hair? Even my wife wouldn’t go that far, and she can take some serious pain without complaint. (Yeah, I get it – women are tougher than men in some ways – and I respect that).
Anyway, solid advice for the rest of the article, and btw, people who don’t carefully groom their facial hair seem to crop up in every generation. Weird, huh?

Remember to keep the ears groomed. Hairy ears — ugh!
