Job Posting Closed on LinkedIn, Can I Still Apply?

Job Posting ClosedThe following question came up recently in one of my JSAP (Job Search Accelerator Program) group coaching sessions:

“I saw a job I’m perfect for on LinkedIn, but it’s closed. Should I still apply?”

The answer is, “It depends.”

Below is a video where I map out what to consider when you see a job that is closed and what steps you can take to make the most of the situation.

Any time we see a job we feel we are a match for, we need to do something. But, if it’s closed, the steps we should take become less clear. Until now! Watch my video and I’ll tell you step-by-step what to do.

  1. Hi J.T.,

I have to admit I was bit hesitant to listen to ANOTHER job search video as everyone seems to be the “expert” and know how it should be done. Well, YOU DO KNOW! Your information was right on the money in how to work your way into a company strategically so you are “in the know” when another position is posted. Plus, you hopefully also have cheerleaders who can give HR and/or the hiring manager a pep talk on why to hire you.

I am indeed going to spend a majority of my time on this approach as after 2+ years of unemployment, I need to get my head on straight and stop working so hard and begin working smart. As this is my third layoff* since 2004 through no fault of my own, I need to ensure I find a position at a stable company.

Thank you for your simply awesome information to help us in our career search.
