Dear Experts,
I would like to get advice about whether or not it is appropriate to connect on LinkedIn with HR people whom I have sent a resume and cover letter to in response to a job opening. If so, what is the best thing to say in the invitation to connect message?

Q#420 Also, I’m giving away a copy “I’m on LinkedIn – Now What” this week (by Jason Alba). Worth a look: http://bit.ly/8uwGHo (@gradversity)
Q#420 Let them know know why you are trying to connect with them. Be honest, polite, and professional. (@gradversity)
Q#420 Unless U have a REAL reason 2 connect other than job application, don’t try 2 get w/HR ppl on LinkedIn. (@beneubanks)
Q#420 I’d say “I want 2 connect so you can see my complete public profile, as I’ve just applied 4 a job w/you.” (@juliaerickson)
Q#420 Yes, it’s appropriate. Personalize yr invitation, but the msg is Just 2 Connect via LI: http://twurl.nl/upsx4z (@JoshuaWaldman)
